    Advisory Council June Meeting

      The State Superintendent’s Advisory Council on Blindness and Visual Impairment Education advises the state superintendent on statewide activities to benefit students who are blind or visually impaired; makes recommendations for improvements in services provided by the Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WCBVI); and proposes ways to improve the preparation of teachers and staff and coordination between the department and other agencies that offer services to the visually impaired.

      CANCELED: Low Vision and Refraction Clinic Janesville

        Low Vision and Refraction Clinics can include an optometrist exam, near vision functional evaluation, sun shade evaluation/distance vision evaluation, and assistive technology demonstration.

        A student attending a clinic can have either a low vision evaluation or a refraction and evaluation. Students attending clinics are generally age 5 and up.

        CANCELED: Move It Short Course

          Join us at the Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired for our Move It Short Course, focusing on physical fitness and fun! Students will have the opportunity to participate in a mini-triathlon and learn about nutrition!

          Outreach Letter to Stakeholders Regarding Coronavirus

            Given the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and Department of Public Instruction (DPI) guidance regarding the importance of social distancing, which includes large social events, the WCBVI Outreach Team will postpone in-person Outreach Service Requests (OSRs) and Outreach events and supports until further notice.

                Sources for Talking Scientific and Talking Graphing Calculators

                  With APH discontinuing distribution and support for its popular Orion Calculators (see “discontinued products” section of the November 2019 Newsletter), there have been many questions regarding where and how to procure talking and/or talking graphing calculators.

                  Let’s Get Cooking Short Course

                    Let’s Get Cooking is a Short Course program for students in (approximately) 4th-8th grade held in Sheboygan Falls, WI, focusing on basic cooking skills such as cracking eggs, using an oven, using a crockpot, measuring, and more!
