Research shows that involvement in school-sponsored sports and other activities benefits students in a variety of ways. Most obviously is their physical health, but there are other important benefits as well. Being a part of a team provides students with a sense of belonging and helps them develop healthy social connections with peers. Additionally, students involved in extracurricular activities tend to perform better academically.
Students who are blind or visually impaired often times face significant challenges in accessing these important opportunities which are highly beneficial, and help foster the successful development of students. WCBVI staff strongly believe in the importance of these key areas of student life, and we are extremely proud to offer a wide variety of high quality school-sponsored sports, and extra-curricular activities, to all WSBVI students.
Student government and leadership are extremely important because students learn how to address issues that affect them, advocate for themselves, and take on responsibility.
