ALERT: COVID-19 and Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Following the Safer at Home guidance from Governor Evers, our WCBVI Outreach staff are working remotely without access to our physical building.

As we do not have normal operations onsite at this time, we’re unable to accept student information via faxes, emails, scans, or other electronic formats.

To safeguard transmittal of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and reduce risk, we have implemented the following changes:

Accessible Textbooks for Wisconsin Students

If your student(s) require specialized formats (braille, large print) for the Fall of 2020, we will continue to research these requests for Wisconsin LEAs and Vision Professionals.

STEP ONE: Please continue to utilize the WCBVI Book Request Form for submitting textbook requests, as it does not include the student name.

STEP TWO (NEW): The textbook requestor will now receive a phone call from an Outreach staff member, who will collect the student Personally Identifiable Information (PII) for each textbook request submitted; which by law cannot be collected digitally via email. Therefore, you will not need to submit the WCBVI Student Information Form for Book Requests, at this time.

IMPORTANT: To safeguard transmittal of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and comply with FERPA/HIPAA governance, we are unable to accept student names online. For information regarding FERPA/HIPAA, please visit The US Department of Education FERPA Guidelines for Students.
