Outreach Letter to Stakeholders Regarding Coronavirus

    March 13, 2020

    Hello WI Stakeholders,

Given the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and Department of Public Instruction (DPI) guidance regarding the importance of social distancing, which includes large social events, the WCBVI Outreach Team will postpone in-person Outreach Service Requests (OSRs) and Outreach events and supports until further notice. This includes the upcoming requests for in-person WCBVI Outreach Low Vision Clinics and mini-Low Vision Clinics. Wherever possible, we will offer digital or phone consultation for support to our stakeholders.

The strategies set forth in the community mitigation strategies document from the federal government, shares that we should focus on:

    • Emphasizing individual responsibility for implementing recommended personal-level actions
    • Empowering businesses, schools, and community organizations to implement recommended actions, particularly in ways that protect persons at increased risk of severe illness

We will continue to monitor the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and DPI guidance for Wisconsin. We know this is very fluid and messaging regarding this situation can change at any time. This guidance could also impact the April and May OSRs, Low Vision supports, family events, Short Term Programming and Statewide Outings, such as the Apostle Islands collaboration with Northland College. We will keep our website up to date with cancellations and/or delayed events and supports, so please visit our website frequently at www.wcbvi.k12.wi.us.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

    Take care,

    Dawn Soto
    WCBVI Outreach Director
