The State Superintendent’s Advisory Council on Blindness and Visual Impairment Education advises the state superintendent on statewide activities to benefit students who are blind or visually impaired; makes recommendations for improvements in services provided by the Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WCBVI); and proposes ways to improve the preparation of teachers and staff and coordination between the department and other agencies that offer services to the visually impaired.

2019 Giving of Yourself Program

This program will be a fun and engaging weekend where students will meet new friends, make blankets for residents of a nursing home or homeless shelter, thank you bags for firefighters, dog treats and dog and cat toys for a Humane Society, and bookmarks for their local libraries, all while enjoying fall recreation. Low Vision and Refraction Clinic Milwaukee

Low Vision and Refraction Clinics can include an optometrist exam, near vision functional evaluation, sun shade evaluation/distance vision evaluation, and assistive technology demonstration.

A student attending a clinic can have either a low vision evaluation or a refraction and evaluation. Students attending clinics are generally age 5 and up.

Family Goalball in Appleton

Please join us on Wednesday, November 20 2019 to learn and practice the game of Goalball. This is a sport designed specifically for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, using a ball with a bell in it. Players try to score goals against their opponents.
