Annual field trips are organized each year in late spring. Our academic wing students have visited the Wisconsin Historical Museum, Discovery World, and Lambeau Field. During these trips, WSBVI works with the individuals at each site to ensure that a hands-on and interactive experience is provided. Our younger students participate in additional community trips including an annual trip to a local pumpkin patch, visits to local parks as weather permits, and other similar activities designed to enrich their education.
Every two years, students at WSBVI have the opportunity to apply to travel to Huntsville Alabama to participate in a week long program specially designed for students with visual impairments. The program features simulated space missions, presentations from NASA scientists who have visual impairments, Braille diagrams and materials, as well as other unique opportunities.
At the end of each school year, WSBVI has an annual talent show. Both students and staff are welcome to “show their stuff”. Acts range from singing and dancing to acting or even showing power point presentations. Each student is encouraged to display his or her talent in a non-threatening and non-judgmental environment.
At the end of each year, WSBVI publishes a yearbook. Student involvement is highly encouraged and many students enjoy designing pages, writing content, and taking pictures that are included in the yearbook.
