College and Career Readiness
The WSBVI College and Career Readiness Program is open to students who have completed the graduation requirements set by the State of Wisconsin. Classes are tailored to the needs of the individual. Possible programing may include but not be limited to:
- Instruction in use of assistive technology specifically designed for students who are blind or visually impaired. The classes also include strategies on how to use the technology learned to be competitive in today’s job market or successful in the post-secondary institution of the student’s choice.
- Daily Living Skills classes that focus on learning skills that will assist the students in becoming as independent as possible in the post-secondary world. Such skills may include meal preparation, cleaning, and money management. Independent or supported living experiences are also available in our on-campus apartments or the LIFEHouse that is located on the east side of our campus.
- Technical and Career Education classes as well as supported and unsupported employment opportunities. Students have the opportunity to have job experience both on the WSBVI campus and out in the community.
Tours of local colleges and universities are available as well as assistance in learning to access disability support offices on the various campuses.
