Morning: Dr. Valerie Frazer, from New Horizons Vision Therapy Center in Delafield collaborates with optometrists, teachers, occupational therapists and other professionals who treat patients with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and attention deficit disorder. During her residency, she developed a special interest in working with patients who have functional vision difficulties following a stroke or brain injury. Dr. Frazer will speak to us about visual skills and the role vision therapy can play in the developmental and rehabilitation process.
Afternoon: Our guest speaker, Jessica Nichols will help us understand what we can do to support our students experiencing trauma and mental health issues. Jessica Nichols serves the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as an Education Consultant on the Special Education Team. Her work supports students with autism, students with emotional behavioral disabilities, and student needs related to mental health and trauma. Jess has extensive experience supporting a variety of learners as a teacher, coach, consultant and trainer primarily in rural Wisconsin communities.
