BrailleFest consists of specially designed games that enable students who are blind or visually impaired to demonstrate their braille-related skills. Students of all abilities are able to participate in sensory, pre-braille, and braille activities.
This is a fun event where students compete both in teams and individually in games such as Relay Race, Human Braille Cell, The Big Game, Top Dot and Braille Jeopardy. Students receive medals and prizes. Each student will receive a special BrailleFest t-shirt.
Students will also have the opportunity to learn from WCBVI’s outstanding staff, as well as to share experiences with other students from all over Wisconsin.
- Registration is at 9:30 AM
- Games start at 10 AM.
- Lunch is at 12 Noon.
- More activities will follow lunch.
- The Awards Ceremony at 5:00 PM. Pizza party & social afterwards.
- Students not staying for Braille Challenge can depart.
Chaperones: Each student must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 18 years old. Each parent or chaperone may be responsible for a maximum of three students.
Housing: Limited housing will be available on campus Thursday evening for students participating in both the BrailleFest and Braille Challenge events.
Background Checks: All adults staying in the dorm must pass a criminal background check. These can take up to four weeks, so please submit the paperwork in a timely manner.
Transportation: to and from the event in Janesville is the responsibility of the parents or chaperones.
