Target Audience:
Wisconsin adults who are blind or visually impaired

Cost:
Free, although participants are encouraged to bring a small amount of spending money

Other information:

  • Participants must pass background checks
  • Participants are responsible for transportation to and from WCBVI
  • Overnight accommodations including bedding, towels, and meals will be provided
  • Space is limited with priority given to first time attendees

Classes will include:

  • Orientation and Mobility, Training in safe and effective travel including using public transportation
  • Self-Advocacy, Learning to speak up for yourself and your needs
  • Technology, Smartphones, computers, the internet, and specialized AT programs and devices
  • Home Maintenance, Including vacuuming, sweeping, simple repairs, laundry, clothing, and getting assistance
  • Kitchen, Hands on instruction about nutrition, shopping, cooking, and cleaning
  • Health & Fitness, Discovering fun fitness & physical activity in everyday life
  • Braille, Using optical aids, and communications in braille and large print
