UW-Platteville TVI Program

The UW-Platteville School of Education is proud to offer its program for training prospective Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI). The UW-Platteville TVI program is a 24-credit program for teachers who would like to become licensed to teach students who are blind or have low vision. The UW-Platteville TVI program is always looking for great teaching candidates who are interested in working in this highly specialized and incredibly rewarding field of education.

This exciting new teacher education program offers classes in an onsite hybrid and synchronous (online) format. Furthermore, The UW-Platteville TVI Program is organized in such a way that working teachers can remain in the classroom with students, while they train to receive their 825 Teacher of the Visually Impaired license.

On average, students enrolled in the UW-Platteville TVI program finish the requisite course work in 1.5 years. In addition, students enrolled in The UW-Platteville TVI program are often eligible to participate in The State of WI Higher Educational Aids Board Loan Forgiveness Program.

The UW-Platteville TVI program is open to teachers who hold a regular or special education license, and a new cohort of TVI candidates begins instruction this coming June of 2017.
